Verify a work
PAPER TRAIL — check a work's artwork and provenance package against the record, in your own browser.
Enter a work number. Your browser fetches the work's record from this site and its provenance package from IPFS, hashes the bytes itself, and compares them with what RUTHVEN recorded at creation. Nothing is computed on a server.
What the checks mean
- Artwork bytes
- The PNG fetched from IPFS is hashed with SHA-256 in your browser and compared with the hash RUTHVEN recorded for the public file when the package was built.
- Package manifest
- The package's own manifest lists every file with its hash; it must list the artwork with the hash just computed.
- Origin Manifest
- The Origin Manifest is fetched and hashed; its hash must equal the package manifest's entry for it. It must also name the studio master's hash, as recorded at creation, as the file the public artwork was made from.
- Root CID
- The root CID named on the work's Passport page is the CID the checks were made against. A CID is the content hash of the package on IPFS; a different package would have a different CID.
- Token
- When a contract is published for the drop, tokenURI(N) is read from Ethereum and its metadata must point its image into the same root CID. Until then this check says so.
